Store
What does
"Einerlei" mean? "Einerlei" is a German word meaning "one and
the same." When the owners, Bill and Nancy,
opened their store, their philosophy was to have
their work and their play "one and the same".
What services
does the Einerlei offer? The Einerlei can create custom fresh or silk
floral arrangements for special occcasions and
for everyday events. In addition, we can make
custom wreaths and dry your fresh flowers.
What will I find
in the Chassell
store? The original store in Chassell rambles from
room to room on two stories and even outside!
You will find apparel, jewelry, florals, garden
art, perennial gardens and plants, a Christmas
room, greeting cards and special papers,
regional giftware and art, tabletop decor, and
kitchen and gourmet products.
Can the Einerlei
special order products? Yes, the Einerlei can place special orders
for many of the products we offer for your
convenience.
Does the
Einerlei close for the winter season? No, the stores have slightly shorter hours,
but we stay open for your
convenience.
Do we offer gift
wrapping? Yes, we wrap for any occasion! Stock wrap is
free of charge. You may choose special wrappings
and ribbon and be charged only for the
materials, with no charge for the

changed over the years and so have the products

3. History
When did
the store first open? The much smaller Einerlei was opened in
Chassell in 1975. Check out the Einerlei history
page for more information.
When was the
Chassell building expanded? The major addition was added in
1987.
When was the
Einerlei up north opened (Houghton,
Michigan)? The Houghton store was opened in the fall of
1995.
Why did the up
north
store close? The store in Houghton featured the artworks of local
and regional artists, apparel, fine giftware, and a paper
loft with unique greeting cards and handmade papers and
stamping supplies. The store was opened in 1994 and
thrived. The store owner's made the tough decision to
close the store in 2005 for the purpose of simplifying
efforts to one location. This allows the Einerlei
family to do what we do even better. We are sincerely
grateful for the support that our friends and neighbors in
Houghton have given us over the years.
Does the
Einerlei still sponsor a quilt raffle? Yes, we have sponsored the making of a
beautiful, full-sized handmade quilt for the
last 22 years. More than $25,000.00 have been
raised and given to our community.
When did the
Einerlei first begin sponsoring the Pet Photo
Contest? The first contest was held during the summer
of 2000.
When does the
Einerlei hold workshops and what kind? We hold various workshops throughout the

Plant Walk with Steve Chadde? The plant walk, if scheduled, is usually during the

Holiday Einerlei Open House? The open house is held in the middle of November each

How do I start a
bridal
registry? Stop in either store location and ask to
start a registry. You will be given forms to
fill out with information about when your
wedding is, where it will be held, what color
schemes you will be using in your home, and
places to write down items you find throughout
the store which you would like on your registry.
You can register at both locations together and
register at either store first. Your items will
be placed in a custom registry on the second
level of the Chassell store.
6. Bear
Where did Bear come from? He was a stray found running the streets of
Chassell in the fall of 1998. Bill and Nancy,
his parents, gave him a home.
How did Bear get his name? After finding Bear, Bill and Nancy tried to
pick a name by saying names to Bear to see how
he would respond. He seemed to like "Bear."
How old is Bear? As Bear was a stray, we aren't exactly sure.
Estimates by veterinarians tend to put his age
around 8 or 9.
How much does Bear weigh? A bit over 100 pounds
What breed is Bear? A Leonberger. A European breed, which is a
mix between a Pyrenees, Saint Bernard, and a
Newfoundland.
